Troy and I were able to sneak away for a few days this February, and the timing couldn’t have been better - a snowstorm rolled into Mount Baker Ski Area just as we arrived.
We found a cozy, dog-friendly cabin in Glacier, Washington and settled in for a few days of skiing. We originally planned for two ski days, but conditions were too good to leave, so we added one more and pushed our drive home a little later.
The snow delivered.
Classic Baker - deep, playful, and full of character. On one of the days the clouds lifted just enough to finally see the surrounding terrain, which felt like a bonus after skiing mostly in storm conditions.

Veikko came along for the trip and fully embraced his role.
On our last day, he hung out in the car between laps - perfectly content in the cold. He made the most of his breaks, wandering the parking lot, greeting people, and enthusiastically throwing himself into the snow for a few classic “snow angel” moments. He even got to stroll over toward the base area and take it all in.

It was a simple trip, but a really good one — great snow, a little flexibility in the plan, and time well spent together in the mountains.
