Tall Tale: The Iron-Spoke Legend of "Barnacle" Bill Muldoon

You’ve likely seen it: the tiny, rusted antique bicycle perched near the front windows of the shop. It looks more like a Victorian garden ornament than a mountain bike, with its solid rubber tires and a frame that seems held together by sheer stubbornness. Most folks assume it’s just a conversation piece, but the truth is far more interesting.

That little bike was the first machine to ever descend Dry Hill, and it did so under the command of the most rugged man to ever set foot on the Olympic Peninsula: "Barnacle" Bill Muldoon.
